Conditions
Membership is limited to all 43 countries from the Council of Europe.
A European victim support organization can become a member if the organization:
- is a non governmental organization,
- is working nationally,
- is not focussed on a single issue, but offers general help to victims of crime,
- works with trained volunteers and/or professionals,
- works free of charge,
- does not discriminate against victims on grounds of age, sex, race, nationality or religion, or according to the type of crime which has been committed, unless it can demonstrate that another organisation already exists providing an effective service for the group of victims which has been excluded,
- does not engage in party political activities or express views on behalf of a political party,
- does not undertake campaigns concerning the sentencing of offenders, except where issues of compensation or other forms of reparation are concerned.
Membership is limited to a maximum of three victim support organizations per country. In case a second or third victim support organization from a country wants to become a member of Victim Support Europe, the new member must be approved by the existing member(s).
Membership fee
The membership fee depends on the GPD, with a minimum of € 250,- a year.
